CONSTRUCTION NOTIFICATION The University of Sydney’s New Business School and Abercrombie Student Accommodation
The University of Sydney is building a flagship home for the new Business School and a new student accommodation next to us which will open in 2015. The timeline can be viewed here: Visual Programme July 2014 This gives an overview of the impact it will have for Mandelbaum House during the construction process. The permitted hours of work are 7am to 6pm Mondays to Fridays and 8am to 3pm on Saturdays. Every week we email residents with an update of the work progress and what is in stall for the upcoming week. This is also posted on the back noticeboard of the college. If residents have any concerns about the construction, they can speak to the staff at Mandelbaum House or contact John Holland (the builders) by calling 1800 855 262 or email firstname.lastname@example.org The University has issued the following information with further explanation to the above timeline.
July 2014 update: On the Western portion of the project (zone 1), the New Business School has reached the top. The installation of the façade has also commenced to the Western elevation of the building (zone 1). The remainder of the structure (zone 2 & 3) will continue to progress in a formwork, reinforcement tying and concrete pour cycle, with scaffolding with shade cloth being erected one level ahead of the permanent works, assisting to preserve the privacy of our neighbours. Earthworks are soon to be completed on the Abercrombie Student Accommodation (ASA) project. By the start of Semester 2 the project should have reached a regular cycle of formwork, reinforcement tying and concrete pours with the aim to complete all major pours by November 2014. The primary means of deliveries will be via the Work Zone on Abercrombie Street with deliveries being unloaded by the site tower crane.
